Why Ring Us
It Costs You Nothing To Find Out
The roof check is free and you are under no obligation afterwards. You find out what your roof needs, what it does not need, and where you stand - and if the answer is that it is fine, that is what you will be told.
One Firm For The Whole Roof
Slates, tiles, lead, chimneys, flat roofs and guttering. You are not chasing one man for the tiles and another for the lead, and you are not being passed on to somebody else halfway through.
Mended To Match
Your slate goes back as slate and your tile as tile, so the repair is not the thing everyone spots from the pavement. Small jobs are welcome - a couple of slates is worth ringing about.
Whatever Your Roof Needs, Start Here
You do not have to know what is wrong with it. That is our job. Ring us, tell us what you have noticed - a stain, a drip, slates on the path, a gutter running over - and we will come out and look at the roof properly, at no cost to you.
You will get a straight answer about what it needs and a price for putting it right. No obligation to go ahead, and no pressure either way. Plenty of roof checks end with us telling somebody their roof is fine and there is nothing to spend - that is a perfectly good result.
Leaks and slipped slates, chimneys, lead, valleys, flat roofs over extensions and garages, guttering and fascias, right through to stripping a roof off and putting a new one on. Whatever yours turns out to need, it is work we do, and it is one call rather than three.
Ring 01323 33 55 33 and book your free roof check - across Eastbourne, Hailsham, Polegate, Meads and Willingdon.

Common questions
The Questions We Hear Most
The fault, not the size of the house. A couple of slipped slates is a small job on any roof. A failed valley, tired lead at a chimney, or a stack that has to come down and be rebuilt is a different order of work, and whether safe access needs a scaffold moves it again. The free roof check is what turns a guess into a figure.
Ring for a free roof check. Somebody looks at the roof itself rather than guessing from the ground, and you get an honest answer either way. A fair share of roof checks end with there being nothing to do, and that is a perfectly good outcome for everyone.
A repair, most of the time, and on most roofs that is the right answer as well as the cheaper one. Replacement starts to earn its cost when the covering itself is finished - slates going in several places at once, battens breaking up underneath, or the same leak reappearing somewhere new each winter. Patching a roof in that condition over and over is the expensive option.
For a like-for-like repair, usually not. It starts to matter when the covering changes, the roof line is altered or a stack comes down, and consent is settled before materials are ordered rather than once they are on the roof. If your address is affected, you will be told at the roof check.
It works on the fixings and the mortar more than on the slates or tiles themselves. The prevailing wind here comes in off the sea from the south-west, so the exposed slope of a roof takes more weather than the sheltered one, and nails, clips and ridge mortar go first. That is why current practice under BS 5534 is to fix mechanically rather than rely on mortar alone. Storm Ciaran took slates off this coast in November 2023; storm damage is usually an insurance matter, wear and age usually are not, and that line is where most refused claims fall.
Slate, plain clay tile and concrete interlocking tile on pitched roofs, and EPDM rubber, fibreglass and torch-on felt on flat ones. Repairs, full re-roofs, lead, chimneys and roofline on all of them. If you are not sure what is on yours, that is one of the things the free roof check settles.
Yes. Hailsham, Polegate, Willingdon and Pevensey, as well as the whole of Eastbourne from Meads round to Sovereign Harbour. The Hailsham and Polegate pages have more on the roofs there, because they are not quite the same as the ones in town.
