About Eastbourne Roofing

A stain spreading on your ceiling, slates on the path after a gale, a gutter running over, or a roof you suspect has had its life. Whichever of those you have got, it is one call to us rather than three calls to three trades.

Every job starts with a free roof check. It costs you nothing, there is no obligation afterwards, and you get a straight answer on what your roof wants. Ring 01323 33 55 33.

Why ring us

Why People Ring Us

You do not need to know what is wrong with your roof before you ring. Most people who call us have noticed one thing - a mark on a ceiling, a slate on the path, a gutter going over the front - and no idea at all what is behind it.

Working that out is our job, and it is what we do first. We come out, get up on your roof and tell you what it needs, what it does not need and what it will cost you to put right. Whatever is already up there is what we put back, so your repair is not the thing the whole street can see from the pavement for the next twenty years.

Your free roof check costs you nothing and puts you under no obligation to go ahead. A fair few of ours end with us telling somebody their roof is sound and there is nothing to spend, which suits everybody. Ring 01323 33 55 33.

Reasons to ring

Why Ring Us

Finding out costs you nothing

You get your roof looked at properly, a straight answer on what it needs and a figure for the work, before you have spent a penny. If yours is sound, that is what you will hear, and we will not invent work to fill the visit.

You only make the one call

Slates, tiles, lead, chimneys, flat roofs and guttering are all ours. You are not ringing round for a leadworker once we have done your tiles, and you are not handed on to somebody else halfway through your job.

Your roof goes back in its own material

Your slate goes back as slate and your tile as tile, on proper fixings rather than a smear of mortar, so what you are left with matches the rest of your slope. Small jobs are welcome too - a couple of slates is worth a call.

Whatever Yours Turns Out To Need

From your ridge down to your gutter, all of it is work we take on:

  • Slates and tiles - your slipped, cracked or missing ones replaced in the matching material and properly fixed, so the next windy night does not undo it on you.
  • Lead at the stack - new flashings, aprons and soakers where your chimney comes through, which is usually what is behind that stain on your chimney breast.
  • Valleys and hips - your valley relined, your hips re-bedded and clipped and ridge mortar renewed, so the ceiling underneath stops getting wet.
  • Chimneys - repointing, new flaunching and pots re-bedded, or a flue you no longer use capped off and still vented so it does not sweat inside your house.
  • The flat roof over the back - your extension, dormer top or garage recovered in EPDM, fibreglass or felt and laid to a fall, so the water runs off instead of marking your ceiling.
  • Roofline - your gutters repaired or replaced and fascias and soffits renewed in uPVC, so an overflow stops keeping your wall wet.

All of it starts with your free roof check, and it costs you nothing. If it does not need doing, we will tell you that. Ring 01323 33 55 33 and we will come out.

Common questions

What People Ask Before Ringing

Across Eastbourne and the towns around it - Hailsham, Polegate, Meads, Willingdon, Pevensey, Westham and Stone Cross, plus Hampden Park and Langney.

Slate, plain clay tile and concrete interlocking tile, in roughly that order, plus the lead, the chimney stacks and the flat roofs that sit on all three. Whatever the covering is, the repair goes back in the same material, and the fault is nearly always at a junction rather than out in the middle of a slope.

No. The roof check is free. Somebody gets up and looks at the roof itself rather than guessing from the ground, and if it is sound that is what you will hear. A check that ends in nothing needing doing is a normal outcome, and it costs nothing to hear it.

It changes what gives out first. The prevailing wind is the south-westerly off the sea, so the exposed slope takes more weather than the sheltered one, and fixings and mortar go long before the slate does. BS 5534 is why slates and tiles are now mechanically fixed rather than bedded on mortar alone.

Usually not, if you are putting back what is already there. It matters when you want a different covering, a changed roof line, or a stack taken down - and we sort the consent side out before anything is ordered, so it is not your problem to chase. The roof check tells you which of the two you are in.

Yes, and it happens often. A fair share of roof checks end with a roof that is sound, or with a small repair instead of the re-roof somebody expected. We would rather do that repair properly and be the name you ring in three years than talk you into a roof you did not need.
