Roofers In Meads
Damp creeping down the wall beside your chimney breast, a valley that weeps at the bottom after heavy rain, or slates off the back slope after a gale. None of it starts where you can see it.
Ring us and somebody comes out to find it, working back from the stain to the junction that is letting your water through. The free roof check costs you nothing, it commits you to nothing, and whatever comes off goes back in the same material.

Chimney, Lead And Valley Repairs In Meads
The damp beside your chimney breast, the ceiling that marks after every downpour, the valley that never seems to dry out. Your water is getting in at a junction, and the mark it leaves indoors is hardly ever under the hole.
That is what we are looking for when we come out. We get up on your roof and work back from the stain to the lead at your stack, the back gutter behind it, the valley, or the flaunching on top, and we tell you which one is letting it through. You get the fault named and a price for putting that right.
Looking at it is free and it leaves you under no obligation at all. Your slate is put back as slate and your clay tile as clay tile, and if a change would need consent, you hear about it before a single pallet is ordered. Ring 01323 33 55 33.

What you get from us
What You Get On A Meads Roof
We Go To The Stack, Not The Stain
Your damp often shows a floor below the fault, so we work back to the lead, the back gutter or the flaunching that let the water in. You pay to fix your leak once rather than three times.
Your Lead Is Dressed, Not Smeared
Step flashings at your stack, soakers where the roof meets a wall, and a new valley lining, all cut and dressed in sheet lead. You get a junction that keeps water out for years instead of a bead of mastic that sees one winter.
You Keep The Roof The House Came With
Your slate is matched with slate and your clay tile with clay tile, reclaimed where the colour has to be right. You get a roof that looks untouched from the pavement, and the version least likely to need anybody's consent.
The Roof Work We Take On In Meads
Ring us about any of this and looking at it costs you nothing:
- Chimney repairs - your stack repointed, re-flaunched and the pots re-bedded with fresh lead at the base, so it stops soaking your chimney breast.
- Leadwork - your valley linings, back gutters, soakers and step flashings renewed in sheet lead, so your worst junction stops being your weakest one.
- Roof repairs - your slipped or broken slates put back and your failed flashings renewed, so the drip in the back bedroom stops for good.
- Full re-roofs - stripped, re-battened and re-covered in the material that came off your roof, so your house looks the same from the road when we are off the scaffold.
- Flat roofing - your dormer top, garage or rear extension re-covered in rubber or fibreglass, with the upstands and the outlet put right at the same time.
- Guttering, fascias and soffits - gutters that have stopped carrying your rainwater anywhere useful, re-hung or replaced in uPVC for you.
Chimneys, lead, repairs, re-roofs, flat roofs and roofline - across Meads, Old Town, Upperton, Eastbourne, Polegate and Hailsham.
Call us on 01323 33 55 33 and somebody goes up on your roof at no charge to you. If there is nothing wrong up there, that is exactly what you will hear.
Common questions
Questions We Get Asked In Meads
For a like-for-like repair, usually not. Putting back what came off, in the material it came off in, is generally fine. Changing the covering, altering the roof line or taking a stack down is where consent starts to matter, and that is established before any material is ordered rather than once it is on the roof.
Usually the stack rather than the covering. The lead where the stack passes through the roof, the back gutter behind it, the flaunching on top and the pointing between the bricks all keep water out, and any one of them can let it in. Water then runs down inside the brickwork and comes out on the wall in the room below, which is why the damp is rarely level with the fault.
Usually, yes. A valley takes the water off two slopes at once, so it carries more than any other part of the roof and wears through at the bottom where it all arrives. If the lining has split or the lead has thinned at the sole, the valley comes out, a new lining goes in, and the courses either side are re-laid to it. A whole new roof is not the only way to put one right.
No. It is priced from the fault. Two slipped tiles is a small job wherever the house stands, and a stack that has to come down and be rebuilt is a big one wherever it stands. What the free roof check does is turn a guess into a figure.
Slate matches slate and clay tile matches clay tile, with reclaimed material where the colour has to be right. Concrete interlocking tile is still made in the same profiles, so a close match on those is straightforward. Putting back what came off is also the version least likely to need consent.
Yes. Meads, Old Town, Upperton, Hampden Park, Langney and Sovereign Harbour, and out to Polegate, Hailsham and Willingdon. The free roof check is the same wherever the house is: somebody goes up, looks at the roof, and if it does not need doing, that is what you will be told.
